A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. New Jersey Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so our team can answer it. We do not disclose the message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
New Jersey Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The website provides reference material about records maintained by the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, the New Jersey Department of Corrections, the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry, the New Jersey Judiciary, and agencies across the state's 21 counties. Access to government records may be governed by the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., while dissemination of criminal history record information is separately limited by N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.6 and N.J.A.C. 13:59. This private website is not a government record custodian or a consumer reporting agency, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on the website. A partner's privacy policy, rather than this policy, controls information entered into its tool. Each partner sets its own retention and disclosure rules. Review those terms before sending a query because New Jersey Criminal History cannot control the partner's practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to New Jersey agencies, Judiciary portals, county offices, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms govern the visit. Check those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to follow activity across websites and select ads. That tracking occurs through the provider's systems.
