Why We Built This Site
Access to New Jersey criminal history depends on knowing which record answers the question. The New Jersey State Police, Identification & Information Technology Section, State Bureau of Identification maintains the statewide repository and supplies authorized criminal history products. The New Jersey Department of Corrections tracks people in state custody. The New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry presents qualifying registry information, while Judiciary systems index criminal cases. Local police, county custody agencies, and courts create many of the underlying files. New Jersey Criminal History brings those routes together without treating unlike systems as one database. Readers can begin with the state source, then use the county directory when the original arrest, booking, or court material is held locally.

New Jersey Criminal History is a privately operated reference site. It is not connected with a New Jersey court, law-enforcement agency, county office, or state department. Those boundaries mean that we cannot perform official government functions:
- We do not issue certified court documents, rap sheets, or criminal records
- We cannot submit an expungement petition, public-record request, or other filing for a visitor
- We do not run official criminal history checks
- We cannot give legal advice about a charge, case, or record
- We cannot promise that every government fee, address, or contact detail remains current
An official copy must come from the New Jersey State Police, the court, or the state or county office that created and maintains the record.
